With Babel Travel, it has been surprisingly easy to travel around and the people are just so friendly! I have been constantly invited to people's homes and made to feel so welcome. Wearing the hejāb (headscarf) has taken some getting used to, but after a few days it makes you feel like one of the locals which, in turn opens up plenty of local interaction opportunities.
Iran has so much to offer, from the dazzling Islamic centers at Esfahan and Shiraz to learning about the Nomads of Iran, exploring the ancient mud brick town of Yazd, to reliving the Silk Road at the Zein-o-din Caravanserai or just relaxing under Esfahan's bridges while listening to old men tell stories and sing folk songs.
Fascinating and mesmerizing, Iran is probably one of the most misunderstood countries on the planet. I will not forget the kindness of the people, the beauty of the sites and the silent calm of the landscapes. It is also an incredibly safe country to travel around - put aside any preconceived ideas or prejudices you may have, as Iran will truly surprise you!
